Copenhagen plans to purchase (hydrogen) fuel cell cars

The Copenhagen City Council plans to purchase hydrogen-powered vehicles to showcase the local authority’s sustainable energy initiatives in time for the Copenhagen Climate Conference.

The City Council is moving forward with plans to purchase 15 adapted electric cars at a cost of 14 million kroner (1.77 million pounds).

In an interview with the Copenhagen Post, Deputy Mayor for the technical and environmental administration, Klaus Bondam, said the city has an order for 13 cars from Norwegian company Think and two work vehicles from French company Mega, together with plans to build a fuelling station for the cars.

Think had to temporarily halt production and lay off most of its workers in December. An interim loan of 40 million Norwegian kroner (4.19 million pounds) was provided by investors in January, but the company said in a statement that the money would not be enough to have Think running at full capacity. In the Copenhagen Post interview, Deputy Mayor Bondam said there have been no reported problems with the city’s order from Think.

4. 15 cars does not constitute "mass production"

One would consider pre-mass-produced *anything* to be expensive relative to post-mass-produced prices...

5. Wow, between the 10 hydrogen/wind homes that used to be on Utsira, and the 15 hydrogen
cars, the world is SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I note, with due contempt, that we don't hear all that much about the great Utsira wind to hydrogen scheme.

How long has Norway been operating its cars on wind based hydrogen after the great, wonderful experiment that knowledgeable anti-nukes were hyping here years ago?

They must have shut down all those offshore oil platforms no?

But one wonders why, on the front page of the Danish Energy Agency's website that they are talking all about their plans to "DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!!!!"

Is Sarah living in Denmark now: http://www.ens.dk/sw11492.asp

Quoth the Danes, fossil fuel red herring scammers that they are, in English:

Topic: Oil and gas production in the North Sea contributes to future prosperity In step with soaring international oil prices, oil and gas production in the North Sea has become increasingly important to maintaining a strong Danish economy.

I wonder if the Danish Vestas Wind, Oil, and Gas company hires a guy to yell and point "Look over there, a hydrogen car!" when the oil platforms are being towed out to sea.
