Matsushita/Panasonic Oxyride batteries - where to buy?
I'd like to get hold of some Oxyride AA batteries from Japan before they officially reach America. Can someone point me towards a Japanese store that's US-friendly that sells these things? Many thanks.

Just what we need! Please tell me they are FULLY bio-degradable & have no mercury, otherwise I am just not impressed.

Whats wrong with NiMH?

2. While I understand your concern...
There is hope for conventional alkaline batteries. Apparently, Emerson has now released a battery charger that charges ordinary "do not recharge" alkalines:

It's slow, but if it helps keep batteries out of landfills by safely recharging them, I'm all ears.

And yes, I do use rechargeable Sony NiMH batteries, especially in my camera. They're terrific. One pair of Staminas lasted me a full year, but I fear I'll have to toss them as they're worn out. I've got some CycleEnergy AAs ready to go.
