Does anybody else find this statement funny?
From another forum:

"I am trying to cleanse my body with some healthy food after the holidays, so I bought a blue marlin steak to split with my two year old."

3. she's using her child as a cleaver?
Or she's preparing a 2 course meal: half marlin, half 2 year old?

4. Nah...I was hoping some of the more ecology savvy folks
would get this one.

Blue marlin has some of the highest concentrations of Methyl Mercury found in pelagic fishes. Feeding it to yourself, let alone a 2-year old, is not always advisable.

7. I'm not so Ecosavvy, but that was my guess...
Remember MetreCal? Overweight ppl were supposed to drink a can of it instead of lunch to lose weight. My mom would pig out on lunch and down 2 cans of M to counteract the extra food -- and stll gained weight.
Couldn't figger it out.

8. where does one purchase blue marlin?
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 01:42 PM by blindpig
didn't know there was a commercial fishery, top of the heap predators like marlin cannot long sustain that kind of depredation.

I suspect what you're getting at is the health aspect. Critters at the top of the food chain accumulate all the evil shit we dump, mercury for instance. Sharing such poison with a growing child might be considered unhealthy.

on edit: guess I should have read post #3.
