As Mark Twain said, "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it."

1. Well, it's gone to 11…
I can't make it, and if I could, ironically, I'd feel guilty about burning the carbon to get there…

3. Oh, I'm still around.
I'm much calmer these days, because of the spiritual transformation that I'm going through, so I'm posting less than I used to. I still think civilization is hosed, but I'm much happier now that I see that as an opportunity rather than a challenge.

5. Hey, GG!
Good to see you're still here.

We've got to do the Lanark Green Festival together this year.

11. "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the (Population) Bomb"...
Seriously, I can't recommend this spiritual shit highly enough. And to think a year ago I would spit at the mere mention of the word.

13. Is ironic detachment anything like spritual shit?
Because I'm totally supplied with that.

14. Funny you should say that. I, too, am feeling better about things.

15. Mmm...
it'(the spritual shit) is closer not to detachment per se, but the irony of 'total seriousness' if you get my drift. Not either or but both and - when we really laugh, from the fullness of our heart, we have tears in our eyes... :7 :loveya:

7. Oh it's not like nobody does ANYTHING.
I continuously hear from people here who show great selective attention to attacking the world's largest, by far, form of climate change gas free energy on the grounds that they have very, very, very, very, very poor educations.

I wouldn't call that not doing anything. I would call that making the situation far worse than it has to be.

Ignorance - especially assertive ignorance - is not neutral. It is not passive.

On the contrary, ignorance kills.

So does ennui.

12. Hydro is the world's largest form of climate change gas free energy
In 2006, hydro generated about 10% more electricity than nuclear:
Hydro: 2,997.06 Billion Kilowatthours
Nuclear: 2,660.26 Billion Kilowatthours

From the xls file at www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/international/RecentElectricityGenerationByType.xls
translated by google into html:

3 Table Posted: December 8, 2008
4 Next Update: When new or revised data are available.

6 World Net Electricity Generation by Type, Most Recent Annual Estimates, 2006P
7 (Billion Kilowatthours)
8 Conventional Geothermal, Solar, Wind,
9 Country Thermal Hydroelectric Nuclear and Wood and Waste Total

<snip>

247 World Total 11,943.04 2,997.06 2,660.26 414.31 18,014.67

I know you're not "ignorant" of this fact, because I've pointed it out to you many times before.
You are intentionally misleading people.
