30,000 digesters to be installed in Pakistani biogas programme
In Pakistan, the Ministry of Environment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) to implement a commercially viable Rs2.8 million (€24,000) biogas programme.

In the programme’s first phase, set to run until 2012, 30,000 digesters will be installed in selected rural areas. The programme aims to use the market and non-market benefits of biogas to improve the lives of the rural masses in Pakistan.

The ministry will be the patron of the programme, facilitating coordination among government institutions, while the RSPN will provide capacity building support and assist with policy advocacy and donor linkages. It will also promote the use of biogas in target industries.

People in Washington don't seem to even know about this already proven technology! And we're supposed to be moving on reducing GHGs. Some people's mental inertia is truly astounding. GOod for Pakistan, maybe they will embarass us into doing something smart and which produces instant reducions in GHGs.

recommended.

2. Not much information on the actual plan
Blind support for any given technology is the action of a fool. For an example of how different circumstances and policies can impact an ecology, see this link. Two halves of an island, each half under a different political regime.

Do you know that the Pakistani program isn't going to have this result?
