Fuck the whale killers--I'm buying a Chevy Cobalt
My August purchase is dedicated to the union autoworkers who took me hiking in the scout troop when I was a young teenager. They had an appreciation for life and invested their free time to teach me about nature and leadership. I am forever in their gratitude.

2. And it handles like a dream
This car is soooo much fun to drive. Twist beam axle, battery in the wheel well, aluminum block. I got the XFE manual transmission + low rolling resistance tyres version that specifies 37 mpg highway. Is it possible to love a car?

10. Sure it is
possible to love an inanimate object but you already knew that. Congradulations on buying a Chevy. I'm a ford man myself but I put country first everytime I'm given an option.

3. Congratulations from a fellow Cobalt owner

Marta & I bought one yesterday. 2 door LT coupe. We don't have kids at home anymore. It will just be for me to get to work in and around town when I'm not with Marta. It gets great mileage.

8. Barack Obama bought me a Chevy Equinox XLZ
We cashed in our 18 year old clunker and got car we love to drive. Even if the program had ended before we found the car we wanted, we were in car buying mood.

7. I think that's shorthand for "Japanese"
Since every one of them has personally killed a whale. :sarcasm:

11. That would explain the blubber in the trunk of my new Accord.

13. No, I think it explains the blubbering that you observe
when you tell the "Buy American" people that you own an Accord.

5. Four of the five cars which I purchased have been Chevys
My wife's Ford Escort wagon (since replaced with an HHR) being the only exception. I am currently driving a Cavalier (my second - my first car was a Cavalier).

I sure would have liked to have gotten in on the gas for guzzlers program, but we have never owned a guzzler and we traded my wife's Escort after it just started costing too much money to keep it on the road.

6. I have a Chevy Cavalier 02
It does not get good milage and it is not comfortable. I maintain it so it does drive very well. The Cobalt sounds good. Is it comfortable for long drives?

14. Cav's were never particularly noted for mpg,
Edited on Sun Aug-23-09 02:02 PM by PavePusher
but you can increase comfort. Shop some auto part/accesory stores (PEP Boys, Autozone, Summit Racing, etc, or search aftermarket seats like Recaro or Corbeau) for replacement seats. You can spend anywhere from $100 to $2500 and transform the feel of the entire vehicle.

12. Thank You :)
from the wife of a retired GM autoworker. We have three cavaliers (1999-2001-2003)A GMC truck, just bought a 2009 Cobalt. It is amazing! Bought if for our youngest daughter to drive but I am in love with it. I always said as long as a car worked I was happy with it, but that Cobalt sure has some nice bells and whistles and we only got the stripped down package. At least now we don't look like a cavalier lot when the kids are all home from school. And the cobalt is getting 33 MPG so far, we've had it a little over a month and we couldn't be happier with it so far.
