Nuclear Experts Explain Flaws and Risks of Pursuing More Nuclear Reactors
Source: Reuters

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following event advisory
is being issued by Energia Mia:

WHAT: Forum, Press Conference and Evening Talk in San Antonio with energy and
economic experts who will discuss the enormous risks of CPS Energy's nuclear
reactor proposal for the South Texas Project, while explaining that safer,
more affordable options already exist today. These better energy choices could
build green jobs locally.

DETAILS: Wednesday, September 16th

-- Clean Tech Forum - 11 a.m. The Historic Pearl Stable, 312 Pearl Pkwy,
San Antonio, TX

Dr. Makhijani and Craig Severance will provide factual information to counter
nuclear proponent and industry lobbyist Patrick Moore

-- Press Conference - 1:30 p.m. (Immediately following the Clean Tech
Forum)

-- Evening Talk - 7 p.m.

UTSA Downtown Campus in Riklin Auditorium, Room 1.406 (free to public)

WHO: Dr. Arjun Makhijani and Craig Severance, CPA

Dr. Arjun Makhijani is President of the Institute for Energy and Environmental
Research and holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of California at
Berkeley, where he specialized in nuclear fusion. He has authored two San
Antonio specific studies regarding energy options and nuclear power costs.
Most recently, Dr. Makhijani has authored Carbon Free and Nuclear Free: a
Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy. He has been featured on every major U.S.
television network and has been consulted by the United Nations. IEER's Web
site is www.ieer.org.

Mr. Craig Severance is a CPA and businessman, who offers a practical business
perspective. He has authored "Business Risks to Utilities as New Nuclear Power
Costs Escalate" (Electricity Journal, May '09) and "Business Risks and Costs
of New Nuclear Power" (Center for American Progress, Jan. '09). He co-authored
The Economics of Nuclear and Coal Power (Praeger 1976). Mr. Severance writes
about energy issues on his Web site: www.energyeconomyonline.com.

WHY: Nuclear reactors come with serious financial, health and security risks,
and are not the answer to San Antonio's energy needs. These events give
citizens a chance to hear independent expert analysis, which will address some
of the misinformation, spin and fuzzy math that CPS uses to defend its
irresponsible proposal for pursuing more reactors in South Texas.

2. Nope
Nope. It was just another post by one of DU's anti-nuclear energy optimists.
