Setting the Standard: University of British Columbia Builds North America's Greenest Building
Vancouver and the province of British Columbia continue to make clean energy waves. Not only is B.C the only jurisdiction to have instituted a Carbon Tax, but during the Olympics there were several large-scale renewable energy announcements, and the athletes village was named the by the U.S. Green Building Council as the "Greenest Neighbourhood in world." This city and region are quickly moving up the sustainability and clean tech ladder.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) is constructing an outrageously sustainable building, which, when completed, will be "greenest" building in North America.

This news is just the latest in a dearth of renewable energy and green announcements and accolades to come from Vancouver.

UBC's Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability will open in the summer of 2011, and will incorporate several cleantech functions.
