Further evidence nuclear power is DEAD - Finnish government . . .

Finnish govt grants permissions for 2 MORE nuclear reactors.
HELSINKI, April 21 (Reuters) - Finland's government granted on Wednesday a permission to utility Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) and consortium Fennovoima to build new nuclear power stations, but rejected Fortum's (FUM1V.HE) application.

"We are giving a strong signal to the industry that it is worthwhile to invest in Finland. Granting one (nuclear reactor) permission is not enough," Mauri Pekkarinen, Minister of the Economy, told a news conference.

He added the aim was to get rid of Finland's dependency on electricity imports from neighbouring countries, especially Russia and to cut CO2 emissions.

Just to put it into perspective. Finland has 4 reactors and is building a fifth one. 2 more reactors is a 40% expansion of nuclear energy. It would be like the US building another 40 reactors.

So substantial nuclear energy, building more, planning even more, they have begun construction on a deep geological repository which has enough capacity to handle spent fuel for next 100 years of nuclear energyr. Yup sure seems like Finland is abandoning nuclear power.

I guess Finland didn't get the memo. I am sure our resident nuclear energy haters will straighten them out! Next we will here how "right wing" Finland is.
