DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — MidAmerican Energy Co. says it will build wind projects in four Iowa counties, erecting enough turbines to power 190,000 homes.

According to a news release issued Tuesday, the Des Moines-based MidAmerican will buy 258 turbines from Siemens Energy that each can generate 2.3 megawatts of electricity.

The wind projects will be built in Adair, Adams, Calhoun, Cass and Marshall counties. Spokeswoman Ann Thelen says the generators are expected to be producing electricity for MidAmerican's 1.4 million retail customers in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and South Dakota by early 2012.

3. You said "Warren Buffet" and I read "T. Boone Pickens"...
and had a short fit, racking my brain wondering what lay beneath those lands that he might want to get his hands on (a huge aquifer, oil sands and coal), and how he'd use the right-of-way granted in conjunction with alternative energy development to move those commodities across state lines.

That it's Warren Buffet provides some relief, in that it may be wind power for the sake of wind power.
