Japanese Harbor clogged with oil.

Interestingly the assholes at CNN showed a picture of a burning Japanese oil refinery with a caption referring to the supposed "meltdown of the nuclear reactor" - which is possibly one of the most trivial events in the entire affair, since it is one of the few events without a significant loss of life.

Here you go: http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2011/03/world/hires.japan.quake/index.html?hpt=T1

I do think however, that the events of this weekend do prove the necessity of phasing out, um, Japan, and, in addition, Earth's crust.

Earth's crust cannot be made risk free.

1. Based on the media reactions, I'm guessing Fukushima just gave us another 20 years of coal+NG

3. Yep. All because a bunch of pro-nuke geeks couldn't elevate a diesel generator.

Kindof makes you wonder if they're all that smart.

4. starting a diesel is a bit easier when you aren't fighting fires, massive explosions, and a tsunami.
Just sayin'. I think they're doing the best job they can, and that they know what's on the line.

6. I have no doubt.

But the gens WERE started, according to reports, and got swamped.

You and I could have predicted that and offered a solution. Raise them.

Bet that'll happen from now on.

12. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
I'll just assume you mis-thought I referred to raising them in response to the quake, rather than correctly determining that I'm stunned this wasn't done as a matter of design and implementation.

9. Well, while a bunch of uneducated anti-intellectuals keep hoping for more nuclear deaths, not....
Edited on Sun Mar-13-11 08:52 PM by NNadir
because they are care about energy or the environment, but becasue they wish to validate their rote anti-nuke religion, reactor seems to have done a lot less damage than, um, buildings.

Maybe you think that a bunch of technically illiterate people would suggest that the Japanese move to, um, caves?

Couldn't care less about stuff that actually killed huge amounts of people?

I, um, didn't just think so, I knew so.

Have a nice evening.

10. What does that have to do with what I posted?

If you know anything about how the generators are mounted and connected feel free to educate us.

7. I've been posting a lot lately too, but that's because I have personal knowledge here.
This is just one of those subjects that I happen to focus in. I don't agree with everything NNadir says, but I'm not gonna chew him out for only posting on subject that he thinks are important, or feels he has something to contribute to.
