http://solar.coolerplanet.com/News/800528944-largest-solar-energy-plant-in-western-hemisphere-to-be-built-in-new-jersey.aspxWith the Monday morning announcement of a new solar energy plant, New Jersey may become a solar power hub in the near future.
The New York-based McGraw-Hill Companies and NJR Clean Energy Ventures announced today that they plan to build the largest privately-owned solar plant in the Western Hemisphere on McGraw-Hill’s East Windsor, New Jersey campus.
The 14.1 megawatt solar system is poised to reduce the amount of other energy resources the company will need to operate. The solar plant is expected to produce 18 million kilowatt hours annually, enough to remove the carbon dioxide emissions produced by just under 2,500 cars.
“Our plan to use solar power underscores our commitment to green, sustainable business practices,” Harold McGraw III, McGraw-Hill’s chairman, said. Half of the system is expected to be operational by December of this year, with the other half expected to operation in March of 2012.
