Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant north of Omaha pumping out water
Edited on Sun Jul-10-11 01:26 PM by Fledermaus
The water is expected to rise another two feet soon and it could go higher depending on the amount of rain upstream.

BLAIR, Neb. — The Omaha Public Power District has installed a new barrier around its Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant and is now pumping out floodwaters from the Missouri River.

OPPD installed the new 8-foot-tall, water-filled barrier around the plant to replace a similar one that failed two weeks ago after a worker inadvertently punctured it with a bobcat.

3. I'm glad you bought that up. Apparently the Air National Guard is "keeping eyes on it"
Edited on Sun Jul-10-11 07:25 PM by Fledermaus
Warrant Officer Boe Searight, 32, with the Nebraska Air National Guard wants the infrared camera mounted under the chopper to record similar flood scenes for levee experts on the ground to compare.

He and his colleague Chief Warrant Officer 2 Eric Schriner also are looking for new signs of trouble for the flooded plant.

“Keep daily eyes on it and see if anything changes,” says Schriner, 31.
