United, Alaska Airlines Launch First U.S. Commercial Flights Powered by Biofuels

The first U.S. commercial airline flight powered by biofuels is set to take off from Houston on Monday �� a United Airlines 737 that will fly to Chicago burning a blend of petroleum and an algae-derived fuel made by Silicon Valley�s Solazyme.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, meanwhile, said the first of 75 flights fueled by a mix of petroleum and cooking oil takes to the skies on Wednesday when airliners leave Seattle for Washington, D.C., and Portland, Ore

1. I suggested that over 30 years ago - they should just run the jet engines off of the farts captured

by the seats. I've always been amazed by how many people fart like a bean-fed camel when they get on a plane.
