2005 Warmest September on Record
September was the warmest on record, the anomalies with a base period 1951-1980 being #1 2005 (0.60°C), #2 2003(0.54°C), #3 2004 (0.47°C). The mean temperature anomalies for the first nine months of the year are #1 1998 (0.60°C), #2 2005 (0.580°C) and #3 2002 (0.579°C).

2. 0.6°C anomalies -- just over 1.0°F
One Farenheit degree in a period of 40 years, with the trend itself accelerating since the mid-1990s (the particular charts on the NASA page don't show it well).

The real acceleration seems to be the level of atmospheric CO2. It's nearly 400 ppm, and over the past 900,000 years, the critical point for rapid climate change (often as a Heinrich Event) has been 400-500 ppm, although current climate change does not appear to be either the beginning of an Heinrich or a Dansgaard-Oeschger event.
