How did your Senators vote???
Edited on Fri Nov-04-05 09:39 AM by Viking12
I'm amazed that no one has posted on this yet. Maybe it's too disappointing to think about

The Senate yesterday voted to allow oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The attempt to strip the ANWR provision from the budget bill failed by a 51-48 vote. (yea = good)

1. My senator, Frank Lautenberg, voted yeah. My other senator is bored
with the Senate and is running for Governor, so he didn't show up.

4. Shocked....
I must say that I am shocked that Senator Bunning would vote Nay. He is normally so well informed and on top of things. Follows every detail of the news and is just sharp as a tack. In fact, he is so well informed, that I will just have to trust his vote and agree with him.

:sarcasm:

12. I grew up in NC, and I think you're right. NC seems pretty red.
It's too bad Edwards isn't still in the Senate, because I'm sure he would have voted Yea on this measure.

And welcome to DU! :pals: :hi:

14. Army says Millions of pounds of unused weapons of mass destruction were
dumped in oceans before Congress banned the practice in 1972. The threat is still out there, and may be growing.

A clam dredging operation off the coast of Atlantic City, N.J., in 2004 pulled up an old artillery shell.

Bomb disposal technicians from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware were brought in to dismantle it. Three of them were injured, one hospitalized with large, pus-filled blisters on his arm and hand.

The shell was filled with mustard gas in solid form.

A Daily Press investigation also found:

These weapons of mass destruction virtually ring the country, concealed off the coasts of at least 11 states: six on the East Coast, including New Jersey and Maryland, two on the Gulf Coast, and in California, Hawaii and Alaska. Few, if any, state officials have been informed of their existence

NOW THEY ARE GOING TO DRILL
Drilling + Weapons of Mass Destruction in sea = ???????

So, yay for them on this one...I just wish they'd put the interests of their constituents before the interests of their corrupt party more often...

16. Demint & Graham both suck.
Not that I expected anything else.

What really pissed me off was receiving a letter from Demented yesterday. I had signed on to a letter penned by EO Wilson decrying the mutilation of the ESA. The form letter I received acknowledged receiving said letter and went on to explain how WONDERFUL Pombo's hideous revision was, the best thing since sliced bread. That motherfucker, I can only assume that every one of his constituents who signed got the same. The arrogance of these pigs! :banghead:

17. I see my state, FL, split their vote.
Martinez the Repug who won by pandering to the Cuban vote and using Rovian tactics to smear Betty Castor linking her to Sammy Al Arian voted Nay. Bill Nelson D voted Yea.

The Tool, Martinez originally said that he supported the drilling because he had worked out a deal to prohibit offshore drilling off Florida. As expected he was lying as Florida may soon have drilling near its shore. Both Jebbie and Martinez reversed their positions. I hope whoever we send up against Martinez when he comes up for reelection plays those votes to the hilt. That scumbag needs to be shot down big time.
