War on climate change targets flatulent cows
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-1903311,00.html

Toby McDonald

BRITISH scientists are fighting climate change by reducing the harmful greenhouse gases produced by flatulent cows.

Researchers claim that by altering the diet of cows they can cut the animals’ emissions of methane — a contributor to global warming — by up to 70%. Scientists and green groups concerned about climate change have traditionally focused their efforts on cars, lorries, power stations and factories that burn fossil fuels and produce millions of tons of carbon dioxide.

But a study by French scientists published this year warned that flatulent farm animals must shoulder some of the blame.

There are 1.4 billion cows worldwide, each producing 500 litres of methane a day and accounting for 14% of all emissions of the gas.

1. You'd think an intelligent design would take care of that problem.

2. I'm sorry, but if you're going to worry about flatulent
cows, you should also do something about flatulent people. This is silly.

8. actually there's a lot of scientific evidence to support this
plus, if you factor in the land used for the cows, plus the land used to grow the feed, plus all the pesticides, plus all the drugs, plus all the energy in transportation, storage, etc. of the beef post-slaughter--beef consumption is right up there in terms of really, really bad mega-detrimental effects on the atmosphere and environment.

9. Every word that comes out of her mouth is a fart.
She is one of the more detestable Bush's. It is hard to imagine that someone could marry into that family and go beyond the native capacity for depravity and moral turpitude, but somehow that beast has managed that unimaginable task. It is, I think, the only impressive thing about her.

I think the bovine race suffers by comparison to that fart faced animal.

5. Quit eating beef
Livestock consumes most of the grain grown in the US. That consumes a huge amount of energy and makes us dependent on Mideast Oil. If you are with McDonalds, you are with the terrorists.

6. Eat 19th century beef
which was a grazing animal, and only grained out before slaughter.

We really need to take a long hard look at the so called 20th century green miracles and see how sustainable they are, and how actually green they are.

7. Yeah, let's all eat veal instead
That way we eat the cows before they have time to grow up and warm the planet with their farting.

10. Most of us will be vegetarians within 10 yrs, whether we like it or not
While I love meat, I also realize that, within the next decade, I will most likely be forced to become a vegetarian. With the price of natural gas and oil going through the roof, the fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides made from them will go up too. Without the additional chemicals applied to the fields, grain yields fall. The cost of farm-raised meat is bound to skyrocket as the cost of raising cattle, pigs and chickens goes up.
