California gasoline, diesel production higher than at end of 2004


Sacramento - For the last week of 2005, production of reformulated
gasoline for use in California was 1.7 percent above levels of one year
ago, according to the Weekly Fuels Watch Report issued today by the
California Energy Commission.

Production of reformulated gasoline averaged 967,429 barrels a day for the
week ending December 30, 2005, a 6.9 percent decline from the previous
week's daily average. Inventories of reformulated gasoline at California
refineries grew by 1.2 percent from the previous week but are 6.4 percent
below last year's levels.

The statewide average retail price of regular gasoline fell 2 cents,
averaging $2.21 a gallon for the week ending January 2, 2006. In an
unusual turn, that put California's average retail price below the
national average retail price, which rose 4 cents, to $2.24 a gallon.

Diesel production and diesel inventories continue at higher levels than
they have been on this date in five years. Overall diesel production-which
includes CARB diesel and low-sulfur diesel-rose 1.1 percent from the
previous week and was 15.6 percent better than at this time last year.
Overall inventories of diesel rose by 5.1 percent over the week and were
up 3.2 percent from this time last year.

Production up, prices down. Consumption at record levels with prices falling to new lows. How can this be with US so close to peak oil?

Odd how no one is saying much about saving gas now that the price has fallen. Does this mean cheap gas doesn't cause climate change, pollution, wars and political corruption?
