"Marine scientists are keeping a close eye on the Great Barrier Reef after receiving reports of coral bleaching.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority says weeks of above-average temperatures have bleached the coral in areas stretching from Lizard Island in the north to Heron Island in the south.

"None of these are serious bleaching events and certainly we wouldn't be calling it a mass bleaching event at the moment," he (ed. - climate change program director Paul Marshall) said.
"But we are seeing the early signs of temperature stress and at this point it could go over the edge if we get some more hot weather in the next month."
