Peak Oil NYC to Host Conference, April 27-29

There's a great conference organized by Peak Oil NYC on rising energy costs, tight oil and gas supplies and what we can do about it. There will be sessions on transportation, energy efficient buildings, on-site small wind and solar, the potential of renewable energy, and expansion of regional agriculture. There will be experts on energy, agriculture, economics, engineering, geology, politics and sustainability. A lot of different opinions about what the problem is and what the solutions are.

Friday evening includes a screening of “The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil.” Saturday afternoon includes Steven Strong's inspiring presentation of worldwide solar installations “Sunlight is Life”. Steven Strong is the guy who put the solar panels back on the White House a few years ago. Reagan took them off in 1981.

The conference will take place in midtown Manhattan, near public transit, on Thursday through Saturday, April 27-29, 2006: Thursday at the Community Church, 40 East 35th Street, and Friday and Saturday at Manhattan Center's Grand Ballroom, 311 East 34th Street. Prices are reasonable and volunteering opportunities are available.
