Deep-sea fish stocks 'plundered' (BBC)
Fish stocks in international waters are being plundered to the point of extinction, a leading conservationist group has said.

Illegal fishing and bottom-trawling in deep waters are to blame, according to a report from WWF.

It says the current system of regional fishing regulation is failing to tackle the problem, with not enough being done to enforce quotas or replenish stocks.

It says species under severe threat include tuna and the orange roughy.

Illegal fishing "by highly mobile fleets under the control of multinational companies" was identified as one of the worst threats to marine life.

1. This ain't new.
It's been getting this bad for ages. Trawling's been damaging in that sense for ages. Not like anyone seems to have done anything about it.

Tuna though, we talking canned tuna or the stuff they ship to Japan?

3. Boycot?
We need to identify who is selling the illegal catch. Then move to have a Boycot of their products.

Fisheries enforcement can only go so far. Most countries cannot afford to effectively police fishing in their waters. Nevermind fishing beyond the countries economic zones.

Some underwater video of Bottom Trawling to get into the press would be usefull as well.
