Solar Power to Light up The Country in 15 Years (Israel)
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=104999

A new project promises to produce enough solar-powered electricity to supply 50% of Israel’s energy needs within the next 15 years. The plant is expected to produce power in less than three years.

Plans are on the table build a solar energy plant in the Negev, to be located near the Jordanian border. The project, a joint venture between the government and several private companies is expected to provide jobs for thousands of people, primarily Negev residents, according to The Jerusalem Post.

<snip>

Raviv said that the plant should be able to provide 80% of the country’s energy consumption after 30 years, an important goal since he claims that the world’s gas and oil reserves will run out within the next 40 years.

<not much more and no details>

1. Good for them. The Negev Desert area is proving to be useful.
Portugal is undertaking massive solar projects and Spain is pushing solar big time as well.

The stupid citizens of the USA should have listened to Jimmy Carter all those years ago.

3. This line got my attention!
"an important goal since he claims that the world’s gas and oil reserves will run out within the next 40 years".

Peak oil never spoken about by this admin, and it's one of the scariest problem facing our country.

Israel taking the lead on this issue is impressive, now if we'll get an admin that embraces science we too can be in the forefront of green energy.

Peace!
