1. Speechless. K&R! Thank you!
I get passionate about nearly every issue except global warming/environmental issues for some reason. This changes that. Talk about getting hit over the head with a two by four. I will see Gore's movie first chance I get.

11. Makes me wish I'd had a camera 8 years ago
When I moved here to Cordova, AK, there were several glaciers in the neighborhood. Particularly notable were two glaciers on the Copper River - Childs Glacier and Miles Glacier.

Childs Glacier is right up next to a park where you can sit and watch the thing calve off into the river. Here's what it used to look like - the picture appears to be midsummer from the shadows.


I went out there this May, towards the start of June (I forget the exact day), and it's half that tall, nearly flat in places. Since the nearby Miles Glacier has retreated so far, the copper river has gotten warmer, and is melting away the underside of Child glacier now. It used to be a veritable mountain of blue ice, now it's a half-rotten chunk of dirty snow on top of a lot of mud.

13. Greenhouse gasses???
People..can somebody please explain to me how it is possible that CO2 emmitted from our cars tailpipes can possibly defy gravity and sit it a layer in the atmoshere? This seems impossble?
