Sweden, Ford Discuss Hybrid Car Plans
STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Sweden's premier met with Ford Motor Co. CEO Bill Ford on Friday to discuss a planned center for developing new fuel-efficient hybrid systems in the city of Goteborg.

Ford and its subsidiary Volvo, with its main operation in Sweden, announced plans for the center in June, with Volvo officials saying the car maker would invest 10 billion kronor ($1.36 billion) in developing new environmental technology for its fleet over the coming years.

The government, which has an ambitious plan to break Sweden's oil dependancy by 2020, has said it will chip in up to 100 million kronor ($14 million) in the project.

Ford was in Goteborg to participate in a business forum, and Prime Minister Goran Persson, who traveled to the southwestern city solely to meet with Ford, said he was impressed by the CEO's vision for environmentally friendly cars.

1. In the 70's Volvo had developed a car
that could run on any type of oil, whether diesel or vegetable oil. They made 5 of these cars. I have it on tape some where in my vast collection of unlabeled (of course) VHS tapes. I am trying to look through them and get them on DVD, but keep having problems connecting the VCR to my computer and having it work.

2. Now this is an outsourcing idea I like. I seriously doubt there
are enough people in the US to think outside the box on this political issue. We have too many vested interests including oil, ethanol and money.
