Reactors shut-down at Sizewell A

One of Britain's oldest nuclear power stations has finally shut down after generating electricity for the national grid for more than 40 years.

The government gave the go-ahead to decommission the Sizewell A nuclear reactors in Suffolk earlier this year.

Magnox Electric - which runs the facility - is now set to dismantle it.

The buildings, plant and equipment from the sites will all be removed but it could take up to a 100 years before the areas are declared clean for new uses.
