Nationwide, more than 1,100 stations sell it. In Missouri, there are about 66 stations with E85, including one in Kansas City and one in Independence. In Kansas, there are about 15 with another in Overland Park expected to open soon. By the end of the year, Kansas could add as many as 20 stations. (emphasis added)

“Eighteen months ago, we (in Kansas) only had four stations,” said Sue Schulte, communications director for the Kansas Corn Commission. “It’s really growing quickly. For a long time, it was like the chicken and the egg problem.”

Stations didn’t want to add E85 pumps because there weren’t that many Flexible Fuel Vehicles that could use it. Manufacturers, Schulte said, were hesitant to make cars with the flexible fuel option because there wasn’t a saturation of E85 pumps.

By 2012, General Motors, Daimler-Chrysler and Ford hope to have half of their annual vehicle production capable of using E85 or biodiesel fuel.

Most people are shocked when their gas mileage is reduced by up to 40% using ethanol. They usually don't go back and buy ethanol again. I was in Indiana this summer and they mentioned an E85 pump at a local gas station. they said it was empty and nobody knew when they would get more.. Unreliable supplies??
