TXU Asks UT - Arlington To Come Up With Technology To Enable Pledged Emission Cuts - DMN
TXU Corp. enlisted the University of Texas at Arlington to come up with technology to help TXU keep its promise of cutting coal plant emissions by 20 percent.

The power company said Monday that it will give the university's Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering $200,000 to design technology to cut nitrogen oxide emissions, which cause smog.

TXU announced last year plans to spend $10 billion to build 11 coal-fired power plants.

1. Why oh why invest in that when everyone knows
Texas is just full of strong, hot winds that drive wind generators very efficiently. My pug in-laws are just so excited that their TXU stock has split because of Rick Perry's boondoggle to pass this stuff through on the fast track. Ptooie.

2. In other words, "We don't know how to do what we promised to do . . . .
But we'll give you a whole $200K to help out the image of our $10 billion coal-fired boondoggle. And once we get the permits, then we'll just say 'Fuck it!' and run 'em any way we want."
