Gov. Phil Bredesen pushes for a switchgrass ethanol plant at the Univ. of Tennessee
Stargazing and converting grass to fuel are activities Gov. Phil Bredesen has targeted for funding in a $505 million capital budget presented Monday.

Some $3 million to help build a new planetarium wing at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville and $40.7 million for a "biofuels" ethanol plant at the University of Tennessee are among the building proposals that will be presented to the legislature today.

.......

The biofuels center at UT will convert a perennial plant called switchgrass to as much as 5 million gallons of fuel per year.
