22. I don't think it's normal and I've lived in Central NJ
all my life (51 years). The past three years have been windier than I ever remember. Maybe I'm just getting old. But it is windy.

6. No - it's just that I've noticed it here and wondered if the world was

getting more windy because of pollution, etc.

recently heard a report that said not as much sunlight has been making it to earth because of the pollution. down 30% in some places. that is way bad news.

in the last 6 mo. I've noticed that sometimes, on a clear day, the sky looks to be a darker blue. and wondered about that too.

9. Yes, the valley seems windier lately
although I'm hesitant to trust my own subjective observations.

Increased wind would be expected from global warming. Increase the total energy in the climate system, and it will express itself thru wind, increased moisture in the atmosphere, etc.

Wind brought down a huge oak tree and caused mid five figures worth of damage...thank God for homeowner's insurance. Also thank God no one was killed, could have been much worse -- we were in the house when it happened.

12. about a year ago we had a Micro-Cell go thru my socal neighborhood
which sounded just like a giant walked by.

a thumping noise..
getting louder as its distance decreased,
untill it sounded like bombs going off, THUMP.... THUMP..... THUMP
and then getting quieter as it moved away.

never heard anything like it. spooky, and not normal for around here.

15. ok i found something kinda =)

What was it? A micro-burst, a macro-burst, or a Derecho?

A micro-burst, according to the US National Weather Service, “is a small area of rapidly descending air beneath a thunderstorm. When the descending air hits the ground, it quickly spreads out in all directions, causing very strong, straight-line winds.”

http://www.newsweb.ca/Micro_Macro.htm

what i heard sounded like "hit ground" over and over and over, travelling along. like a 50 ton skipping stone.

18. Sure, Of Course, Why do you ask?
With more energy(heat) in the climate system, the direct result will
be more wind. All that energy has to go somewhere.

20. My mom in western lower Michigan has noticed it getting windier
over the past few years. She lives in an area that may support wind turbines at some time in the future. By then the are will move from Class III to Class IV winds at the rate it's been going!

23. Windier here in Indiana, too.
Lots of people I know have made comments about it around here.

Maybe it's God's way of telling us to make windpower turbines!

24. Seems That Way
but I hate to rely on anecdotal evidence. People who do that often end up being skeptical about global warming itself.

About 3 or 4 years ago there WAS a freak tornado -- a very strong one -- in suburban Maryland. Passed within 100 yards of my home in College Park. Killed a couple of college kids, but otherwise passed through a wooded area and a golf course. Miraculous no one else was killed. Very very unusual for Maryland.
