Global Warming…coming soon?

There is little doubt that the planet is warming. Over the last century the average temperature has climbed about 1.1 degree Fahrenheit (0.6 of a degree Celsius) around the world. Keep in mind that it was only a 4 degree increase that brought us out of the Ice Age.

The 1990s was the warmest decade since the mid-1800s, when record-keeping started. The hottest years recorded: 1998, 2002, 2003, 2001, and 1997. European countries are seeing temps hitting the 100 degree(F) mark. Thousands are dying from heat exhaustion all over the world. It is predicted that 2007 will be the hottest year ever.

What causes this global warming?
Global Warming has and will always vary for natural reasons. However, human activities are increasing significantly the concentrations of some gases in the atmosphere, such as greenhouse gases (mainly CO2), which tend to warm the earth surface, and anthropogenic aerosols, which mostly tend to cool it.
A United Nations panel on Global Warming, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC) at a conference in Paris (Jan. ’07), said there was a 90 per cent probability that human activity was the main cause of global warming over the past 50 years.
