Bomb Squad Robot Malfunctioned
Monday , April 30, 2007 Posted: 06:57 PM

BROWNSVILLE - Brownsville police were forced to destroy a suspicious package without the bomb squad robot.

The package was found Sunday afternoon. We're told the bomb squad robot malfunctioned just minutes before. Officers had to dress in body armor and destroyed the package themselves.

They tell us they found bomb-making components, like wires, a battery, and a relay switch. The only thing missing was the explosive material.

No arrests were made in connection to the suspicious package. As for the robot, it's now being repaired.

Seems to me they're also "garage door opener making equipment" or "science fair project making equipment." But that would just make the bombsquad involvement and media attention look silly, so "bombmaking equipment" it is.
