RICHMOND (BCN)

The United States Postal Service San Francisco Bulk Mail Center located at 2501 Rydin Road in Richmond is closed and all employees have been evacuated while police, the bomb squad, firefighters and post office officials investigate a suspicious package that was found this morning, according to Richmond Police Department Lt. Richmond police received word at 8:37 a.m. today of a package containing at least three hand grenades at the mail center, which is the receiving center for mail in the region, Gagan reported.

"The call was regarding the fact that somebody had thrown a pineapple fragmentation grenade through the window and it landed on the resident's lap,'' Gagan said. "It did not go off, it did not explode.''
