VAN NUYS - Police shut down part of Van Nuys Boulevard as a precaution this afternoon while the bomb squad was called out to a report of a suspicious package, police said.

The road was shut down in the 6200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard after noon, police said.

The area is near the Federal Building, where some two dozen people are protesting the federal government's recent decision to warn California landlords not to rent space for medical marijuana dispensaries.
