Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Package Near Lewis Gale Medical Center

The state police bomb squad detonates a suspicious package near Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem this evening.

The small gray box was found in a tree near the hospital. Lewis Gale Medical Center spokeswoman Nancy May says a patient spotted the suspicious package around 3:00 p.m., near a group of offices across from the Emergency Room entrance.

Police have closed off the area, and the hospital is still taking patients.

We'll have video from the scene tonight on WSLS 10 On your Side at 11:00 p.m.

1. this flurry of "false alarms" is no accident

same as the last election.... repukes are ratcheting up the fear factor.

But why oh why would anyone think they.. the republicans who can't seem
to do anything right... would be the answer on security ???
