Metrorail commuters match ire with fire - SA
Their train was late, so railway commuters protested - with stones and fire.

Apparently furious at Metrorail's failure to keep its marketing promises to take them there no matter what, commuters went on the rampage at New Canada station near Soweto on Thursday night.

Scores of people, including a train driver, were injured and vehicles were burnt out.

A Metrorail minibus and a bakkie belonging to a man who runs a tuckshop at the station were burnt out. A ticket examiner's bakkie was stoned and overturned.

The chaos at New Canada erupted only a few minutes after a train caught fire in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Four coaches were burnt out but no one was injured.
