Thousands tell Gbagbo to go - Ivory Coast
Bouake - More than 40 000 people took to the streets of Ivory Coast's second city of Bouake on Saturday, heeding a call by a former rebel leader who is demanding that President Laurent Gbagbo step down, eyewitnesses said.

Shouting "Gbagbo Resign!", the demonstrators poured into the main streets of central Bouake before converging on a stadium, filling all 40 000 seats as well as nearby areas, said the eyewitnesses reached by phone.

No clashes were reported by midday.

Several buses from Korhogo in northern Ivory Coast arrived in Bouake, carrying more demonstrators.
