Nigeria's new finance bill may be a fake

Lagos - Nigeria's president, who is on a campaign to clean up his country's image abroad, has recalled a key new financial law from parliament for fear it may be a fake, local media reported on Thursday.

Olusegun Obasanjo wrote a letter to senators asking them to return the true bill for verification after he discovered that several different versions were in circulation.

"Once the authentic bill is ascertained it will be returned to you with my signature," dailies quoted his letter as saying.

Billions of dollars are at stake, because the bill sets a new formula for sharing the oil exporting country's income between central and local government.

This is so funny! Give a different version to fit each senator's wishes. Or the senators make the President sign their fake version. I wonder if this has happened yet in the US?
