enemy combatants
We are a nation of laws. So how is it that the Bush team managed to cook up this new term for prisoner of war called "enemy combatant" out of thin air? Once we call someone enemy combatant, this allows Ashcroft to strip the POW of all his rights, and no international laws apply (i.e. Geneva convention). Did someone vote on this? Is there any written definition anywhere defining who is an enemy combatant? How did this happen?
