Illegal guns

Something I've always heard from pro-gun advocates is if someone wants to get a gun, they'll just do so illegally. So, what I'm asking is: how easy/hard is it to get a gun illegally?

A past acquaintence who is now serving a long prison sentence for robbery told me it's about as easy as buying heroin. You just have to be willing to deal with scummy, scary people and risk getting robbed or busted.

Based on my travel experience, you can always connect with the underworld in any city. One easy, reliable way to make contact is through prostitutes. They are everywhere, and they know how to find anything.

2. There is a law enforcement officer or two that visit this board...

...from time to time and I am sure they will post an eyefull. From my conversations with officers in my area I learned that the quickest source around locally is the local drug dealer. For the gangs, they are a ready source of cash, along with drugs, and weapons are highly sought out during robberies. Seems color TVs just aren't worth the trouble anymore.

3. Too easy.

According to several sources, both government and otherwise, there is a huge problem with smuggled weapons coming into the US. There are also many guns being sold on street corners for the right amount of cash. One statement that shocked me was that nearly a third of all illegal guns on the streets came from military armories and police impound rooms. There are other statistics that contradict this but it still leaves one wondering.
