QUOTE
We are overrun by gun crime, says police chief
By Nick Britten
(Filed: 10/10/2003)

A chief Constable admitted yesterday that his officers are being forced to ignore thousands of burglaries, thefts and car crimes because they are swamped by increasing drug and gun violence.

The public's perception that the police were not interested in low-level and non-violent crime was underlined when Steve Green, Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire police, said there was not enough money or officers available to investigate all crime.

The emergence of Britain's drug and gun culture had impacted on his force to such an extent that "something had to give".

2. Wow, a shooting a week!
"This year there has been on average more than one shooting every week in Nottinghamshire."
Nottinghamshire has about 750,000 people...

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/pyramids/pages/37.asp

Fort Worth, Texas has only got 500,000 people and averages more than one gun death a week...plus various other shootings. If Ft. Worth could go down to one shooting a week, they'd be shouting hallelujah.

Think the people in Nottinghamshire are saying, "Jeepers if only we had MORE guns on the street, and high powered assault weapons too! Then we could have the success that Fort Worth is having with gun crime!"

4. well lookie here -- DUPLICATE!
We are overrun by gun crime, says police chief

Exact same story, posted to this forum on this very date, in the "guns in the news" thread. It must be a very special story, to get its own thread too.

And a cop crying poor ... "not enough money or officers available to investigate all crime". Well, I guess that's news.

Maybe if people actually bothered to read what other people post to the board ... to read what other posts were about ... they wouldn't blot their copybook by botching the job like this.
