If the "assault weapons" ban is reinstated, can I sue under the Americans With Disabilities Act?
WTF? Americans with Disabilities Act?

Let me explain...

When I was a kid, I broke my left arm on the playground at school, right at the elbow, through the ulna's growth plate. As a result, the ulna stopped growing, the radius kept growing, and the result was that I had a big knob of bone sticking out of my elbow, making me self-conscious, until I had surgery to remove the end of the radius when I was a teenager.

The long term side-effects of that adventure is that my left forearm is a good inch and a half shorter than my right forearm, and because the ligaments tightened in that arm, I cannot turn my left hand palm up. It only turns to the point where the hand is vertical, thumb up, but won't go any farther than that.

Try holding a rifle or shotgun without turning your trigger hand palm up. Yeah. It doesn't work.

So my particular solution to this problem is to get a shotgun or rifle with a pistol grip. So when I was shooting trap with my sister and her family, they were using good old fashioned duck guns with conventional wooden stocks, while I was shooting a baby-killing black assault shotgun with a pistol grip (and a heat shield, and a collapsible stock, and a side saddle.)

So, if the "assault weapons" ban, or shall I say, the ban on evil-looking-black-Rambo-weapons-that-are-functionally-identical-to-Grandpa's-duck-gun is reinstated, I'm wondering if I could sue.

Just a thought.

3. I didn't think so...
Still, it's another legitimate argument against such bans. I need long guns with pistol grips because of my bad arm - taking away my right to own such weapons would harm my ability to shoot.

4. You have a constitutional right to bear arms
not to shoot them.

6. Dictionary Alert?
To "Keep" arms is to possess them.

To "Bear" arms is to use them.

That's why we get to "Keep AND Bear Arms"

:-)

2. Don't know...
It would be worth pursuing if such an idiotic ban takes place.

5. You won't need to

Forego the "Collapsible stock," make sure your mag holds 5 or less, and your pistol grip alone will not qualify as "Assault" anyway. You'll be good to go.

On edit: Also, if you go with a pump and not a semi, it won't matter anyway.

8. Last proposed re-instatement of the ban
listed any ONE feature, so just pistol grip would have been enough to qualify, for that particular piece of legislation. Previously it was a combination of features.

Couldn't really answer a question like this, without knowing what form any future ban, if any, would take.
