Mayor Fenty...Get ready, cause, here it comes....
Edited on Sat Aug-02-08 08:16 PM by virginia mountainman
Democrats are coming to the rescue!! Too stop you from infringing anymore on a civil right, and wasting tax payer money on lawsuits that are doomed to fail.

Now, we Democrats can get rid of the "gun grabber" label, that has cost us so dearly at the polls, year after year, election after election...

The bill, designed to head off a showdown between the National Rifle Association and conservative House Democrats, was introduced Thursday, with roughly 50 Democratic co-sponsors, according to congressional sources.

The bill’s lead sponsors are to be three of the Democrats’ most vulnerable members from conservative districts – Reps. Travis Childers (D-Miss.), Jason Altmire (D-Pa.) and Don Cazayoux (D-La.).

The bill, to be numbered H.R. 6691, would repeal the district’s ban on semi-automatic pistols, the requirement that handguns be registered, and allow District residents from traveling to Virginia or Maryland to buy guns. The District currently forbids importing guns, and there are no registered gun dealers with shops in Washington.

1. Is that Queen I hear warming up?
It seems they're getting ready to play a real crowd pleaser. . .

"Another One Bites the Dust"

This should be great. I look forward to Fenty's impotent rage and the hysterical op-ed pieces. The house of cards is falling.

3. I think "impotent" refers to Fenty's rage at having this be now beyond his control.
That's okay--I was out of school when attributive adjectives were taught, too.

I'm plenty potent, but I can't have children. It's a funny world, I tell ya.

Edit: In case the humor is lost, Duke's post above refers to the correct use of impotent, that was originally raised.

5. This would apparently leave D.C. room to ban "black guns?"...
If so, I wonder if 2A activists would challenge any kind of ban of this sort. There may be a game of brinkmanship between those willing to use Congressional power and those seeking court challenges. The NRA is "legislatively oriented" and, I believe, was reticent to bring the Heller case up in the first place, leaving the court challenge to others. There still must be tensions between the NRA and the more libertarian approach of the Cato Institute. Would the NRA-Democratic compromise weaken any future attempts to challenge restrictions in D.C. or elsewhere?

7. HA HA!!
That could be said for the rest of the Anti-civil rights movement!

I mean really, how many time do you need to defeat them at the polls and in court.
