How many members on this board..
Actually own firearms, or have firearms in their home? I'd post a poll but I don't have the spare cash to be a donor. Just wondering what kind of audience we have here.

Just say yes or no, no attacking others for their choice. If you want list what you own and/or a family pic.

I've held a gun, but never fired one.

On edit: I have lost two beloved ones to guns. So, my feelings about them are not good.

44. Honestly? I love it.
When I went to buy my first handgun at 21 years old, I knew I wanted more than a 9mm Glock like everyone else I knew had. I toyed with a 9mm with a .380 backup, but I loved the feel of the Compact. The fully loaded weight just felt perfect. Plus, in a holster, it's not so heavy that it ruins the cut of a jacket nor drags your pants down.

The capacity is a bit on the short side, being a 6+1. I do have an undisclosed number of clips, and I figure an in-home situation wouldn't be a reload issue with this gun. Besides, again, I do have that Mossberg.

My friends still give me a bit of heat about it. My retort is that with 7 Black Talons before a reload, I only need to "barely" hit a crim once, whereas they'd better double-tap a vital organ.

That Springfield of yours is a good, quality, reliable weapon. Nice choice.

55. I never really cared for a Glock...
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 11:49 PM by OhioChick
Never quite liked the "feel" of it. The Springfield had a really good feel, quite accurate, as well. It also has a tactical kit. I also have a Smith and Wesson SW9VE 9mm, but I'm not too thrilled with that. I've had my sights set on a Beretta for some time now.

I've tried .45's but there's too much recoil for me, I'm rather petite.

Ever try out a Desert Eagle .50AE? :wow:

On edit to add: I don't have to worry either..."undisclosed number of clips." In home invasion? Not a worry.

57. Desert Eagle? No.
That was the newest touted gun when I was building my meager collection. My father in law was enamored with it. All he could talk about was how a .50 would exit a body. Too much for me.

I've never been a fan of Glock either. Too back-heavy in the hand for me from my experience. If I really wanted a high capacity firearm for in the field use, I'd probably spend the cash for a Sig.

69. I'd like to eventually get a CC here....
Any ideas of something compact that wouldn't be so bulky, yet easier to handle for me? The XD 40 is a bit bulky for my small size for CC purposes. I usually try out all of the guns they have at the firing range when I go, but can't decide which would be best.

A S&W 35 sp double action revolver (for self/home-defense which I hope I will never have to use but am prepared to if necessary) and a remington 30-06 semi auto w/ scope for hunting (which I haven't done in years.)

Used to like target practice and still would but for two things, too many new houses too close and a dog who's terrified of thunder, fireworks, and gunfire... so there ya go. The guns sit unused.

It's a joy to shoot. But a rather expensive plinker.

It's not a defensive gun (for me) in any way. Honestly the bullet is too light for consistant deep penetration, IMHO.

But it's 100% reliable, crazy accurate, and loud! Just a fun, unique gun to have in my small, but growing collection.
