1. All the anti-death penalty sissies will rally to him in due course
After the shock and outrage of what he did wears off.

"Oh, he's mentally ill. He needs therapy! He needs hugs and rehabilitation!" :puke:

i believe no government has the right to take away someones life as a "punishment"

let him rot in jail for the rest of his hopefully long and miserable life

14. unfortunately all that time in prison costs a lot of money
and it's the citizens who get to pay for him to be there.

15. The death penalty is...
the only way to insure a violent offender will not kill again. There are many dead prisoners in the prison system killed by lifers with nothing to lose. I do not believe even the states prisoners should be murdered by a lifer.

I would support life in prison without parole BUT would require the death penalty if the lifer killed another while in jail. Even so killing a murderer first would prevent that second murder from happening in prison.

Sad situation to be sure.

I hope they do execute the bugger though.

We had the Mother of All Memorial Services for the slain cops.

No one wants to rehab this joker.

10. Sissy here too...I guess
I think that the killer needs to be separated from society and I have no plans to "rally" for this guy, but the death penalty is irrational. You don't punish violence by committing institutionally sanctioned murder. If we kill him then we cannot condemn him for killing because we have killed him to satisfy our own desires and to send a message, which is precisely what he did. The death penalty is not justice it is revenge. It is incomplete revenge at that. Revenge would be better served by having him isolated in a cell for the rest of his life. If we all want to accept that we are taking our revenge on him and shed our high and mighty "sense of justice" then at least it will not be hypocrisy. He may be mentally ill, and he may need therapy, but he can get that in prison and still forfeit his freedom for taking the lifetimes of 3 other people.

I think a good 20 years of Rectal Expansion Therapy will probably do him good.

2. Not at all.
Let him live a long and miserable life reliving what he did to those cops.

Away from drugs, alcohol and right wing radio, he will find it a heavy burden.

4. What kind of post is that? Besides disturbing.
Look, I've got no moral objection to the death penalty in cases where guilt is unquestionably established, and this seems to be as good a one of those as any. But vulturing over the execution of a man who's clearly disturbed is in itself not exactly healthy.

9. I would much prefer a life sentece of forced hard labour
No reason why our tax dollars should go to support him, either locked up for life or executed (both are too expensive).

16. I oppose the death penalty
It may be just (I really don't know), but people aren't smart enough to be completely sure they are executing the right person in every case.
