Realization has set in for Carolyn McCarthy ...
Edited on Sun May-24-09 07:19 PM by virginia mountainman
"We'll probably end up passing more gun bills" that expand owners' rights "than we did during the Republican administration," said Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y., a leading gun control advocate. "That is what surprises me."

But guess who she blames....

She placed less blame on the White House than on ordinary Americans and advocacy groups that are consistently outflanked by gun owners' groups, especially the National Rifle Association.

It is not a suprise to us, "ordinary Americans" . Lets get to work on DC Voting rights....

EDIT: it goes on, and we find this tidbit....Gun Banners should take note, of just how unpopuler that bull shit is in the rest of the nation..

Rep. Lynn Woolsey of California is another Democrat frustrated by the gun debate. When she asks colleagues why they don't support tougher restrictions, she said, they reply, "You just don't get it, Woolsey. You don't have our districts."

1. Nice.
I am sustained by the tears of the anti-rights crowd.

Someday they will give up their holy quest to ban guns but likely not in my lifetime.

2. Really nice.
Her tears are for the rights of her dead husband and maimed son.

Guess you figure they should have carried AK-47s to and from work on the LIRR.

3. Funny you should mention that..
Why don't she even TRY to ban the 9mm handgun Colin Ferguson used, instead of trying to ban everything else??

If you have nothing to add to the conversation except to resort to petty grammarian attacks on people who have opinions you are intellectually incapable of challenging with a logical argument, at the very least learn how to spell GRAMMAR. Otherwise you may come off looking like a child.

13. Seems about like 2/3 rds
Of the Congress get it....Judging by the votes on the credit card bill..

Folks, that is a workable majority....

I don't recall the vote breakdown of the Senate, but it too, was a workable majority.

The American Public, has spoken loud and clear on this issue...

8. Notice though..
.. that she still blames the NRA rather than the "unorganized militia" (tongue planted firmly in cheek) of connected / informed / active citizens around this issue.

And I wonder if Rep Woolsey is getting the straight story from those she speaks with. I can fully imagine them blaming fear of not being re-elected, when it's the concept that they have a problem with.

14. McCarthy: "Until the American people say enough is enough, and get active in it,"

The realization that her agenda has no more traction is setting in, but she still understand why. She's becoming irrelevant because many American people said enough is enough about HER anti-gun stances/bills and got active. When she got passed over for Senate appointment, reality really settled in that she was so last decade.

There has to be a better Democrat for that seat.

Thanks for keeping Americans focused, Carolyn

She needs to find a new pet issue.

19. An even better quote from the article...
""It has to do with being afraid they'll lose their election if they stand up against guns," she said."

Good! I'm glad they recognize the power of gun-owning voters.

20. Oh how sweet victory is.
I hope it annoys her to no end that she doesn't have the votes in Congress to pass another "assualt weapon" ban; not-to-mention that Harry Reid, who has the power to decide what gets voted on in the Senate, has always been agains "assault weapon" bans. And I hope it really chaps her ass that a majority of the guns being purchased from the gun surge are the very "assault weapons" she wants to ban. She knows she can't do a damn thing about it once people have already legally bought the guns she hates. Because she knows if any turn-in/confiscation is part of her bills, it will immediately be set aside and never leave committee. She can take that knowledge and put it where the sun don't shine.
