Military recruiter killed in Ark shooting
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – One Army recruiter was killed Monday and a second was wounded in a shooting at a recruiting office, and a suspect was arrested, police said.

Police Lt. Terry Hastings said the recruiter was shot when a man in a black SUV opened fire on the office in west Little Rock at about 10:30 a.m.

The vehicle was stopped on Interstate 630 a short time later and a suspect was taken into custody. Hastings said the suspect pulled over and surrendered without incident.

Police said they found an assault rifle in the vehicle.

7. Huh. Whaddya know
I was half expecting it be some guy who was royally honked off about being repeatedly "stop-lossed" taking out his frustration on the recruiting center where he was persuaded to join.

Unsurprisingly, I see either Associated Press or Little Rock PD fucked up with regards to the weapon. To the best of my understanding, an SKS is not an "assault weapon," much less an "assault rifle." Was there an "assault lug wrench" in the trunk of the car too? Careful, those are "assault cup holders" (they might pinch your finger if you get it caught).

8. It's just that the AP never misses a chance at anti-gun propaganda.
Well, at least it seems that way. My wife is a reporter/editor at one of our ridiculously tiny local newspapers. Unfortunately for her, she is married to me and is pretty politically aware because of my rantings (you know the type) even though she lacks personal interest. Anyway, she says that AP articles often show a clear agenda and require some fairly heavy editing to bring into the "fair range."

9. No, Mr. Cheney. I'm just surpised at your lack of sympathy for the victims.

10. Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad -- formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe

Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad -- a 24-year-old Little Rock resident formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe. I wonder if this guy will be lionized as a "Freedom Fighter" like that cop-killer in Oakland?

15. Well, he is charged with a terrorist act...
Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad -- a 24-year-old Little Rock resident formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe -- faces a first-degree murder charge and 15 counts of engaging in a terrorist act, Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas said. The terrorist counts stem from the shots fired at an occupied building.

The Arkansas man accused of killing an Army recruiter and wounding another had used the popular Google Maps application to investigate recruiting centers in at least five states, as well as Jewish institutions, a day-care center, a post office and a Baptist Church, according to a report issued Tuesday evening by the Department of Homeland Security, ABC News has learned.
A suspect is in custody amid reports of homegrown terrorism.

Recruiting centers in New York, Atlanta, Louisville and Philadelphia were on a list of possible targets, based on evidence found in the home of the suspect, Muslim-convert Abdulhakim Muhammed, according to the report.

13. He came back from Yemen on a fake Somali passort
You don't suppose he might have had some underground sources?

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=7732467&page=1

Muhammad had been the subject of a preliminary investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force since his return from Yemen, where he was arrested and had in his possession a false Somali passport. Although Muhammad claimed to be acting alone federal authorities are trying to determine whether others were involved in any way -- including supplying weapons, lending encouragement or support, and helping to identify a target -- in the Monday shooting that also critically wounded another soldier.

14. Why wasn't he still in jail?
Edited on Fri Jun-05-09 12:30 PM by Taitertots
He should have been well along the way to dieing in jail before this happened. Why didn't they charge him with the federal crimes when he got busted with a sawed off shotgun years ago.

Big surprise, a muslim. Muslims are a much bigger threat than Right Wingers. Send him to Gitmo and find out about who he was hanging out with in Yemen.
