Guilty Pleasure
So this gun shop near me has had this...

...in stock for over a month now. I know why it's been sitting there, because by the time you're done you will have spent $2,500. The money isn't an issue for me, it's how guilty do I want to feel? I've been pondering and going over it and thinking about it for month. I stopped by there to day and they still had the damn thing. Let's face it, the only reason I want this thing is because it looks so damn cool; it's very unique. And I've also had the pleasure of holding it. It's looks are decieving because it looks awkward to hold, but it in fact feels "just right" when holding it. So I left the store today yet again without it. I could buy it right now if I wanted and not put myself in financial trouble; and I know that this a rifle that I want and will eventually get. But I keep putting it off because I keep feeling like I should wait just a little longer. I don't know why I keep torturing myself on this. Anyone have one of these pieces of eye-candy or experiences with them? Because...damn.

1. Boy, that $2500 could do alot of good in this country for those who are struggling.
Pissing away money on an eye candy gun. I just don't get people like you at all. Are you in the right place?

5. I want to buy a $2700 microscope.
I'm not a scientist by trade, but it's an amazing piece of gear http://www.microscopeworld.com/MSWorld/detail.aspx?ID=5669

It'd be strictly hobby use, but I can afford it...and I can get an adapter that would let me photograph (my second hobby) through the scope...such cool images to be had.

Should I feel guilty about not just giving the $2700 to the less fortunate?

6. Tell you what you go sell your flat screen TV and give the money to the homeless.
Then maybe you can come back and post without sounding like a hypocrite.

So don't call me a hypocrite unless you know something about me.

That is all I know about you and that isn't good.

12. I am very glad that you have no power to implement your "knowledge".
I am sure you would make a very benevolent dictator, but I will pass.

Just for my own info, what would be an appropriate gun for the OP to buy? What car should I drive?

I have a wife and 2 kids, how many sq. feet should my house be?

What is the good/waste crossover line for all the above?

28. No, you don't.
And for all you know, buying that rifle might very well support an American worker. FN does a lot of manufacturing right here in the states.

23. Yes, heaven forbid he should spend his money and pay workers' salaries.
Maybe everybody in the whole country should completely stop buying anything at all, except food, water, and medicine. That way they can have something to give away when everyone loses their manufacturing and retail based jobs...

You realize that when you spend money, it goes to workers and their families, yes?

30. I just spent
$1500 for a lift on my Jeep and another $800 for tires and that's just a start. I also donate to several charities but that doesn't mean I should give all of my disposable income to charities. We work hard for our money and should be able to reward ourselves for a job well done, regardless of what our pleasures are. That rifle looks cool but I really don't need anymore guns right now.

8. If your going to spend $2500+ just get a real machine gun
The FNC is cool looking and all (and I'm sure a fine firearm) but at the end of the day, it's just a 5.56mm semiauto rifle. I vote save yourself some money and get a cheap AR15. If jus want something fun, unique, and evil just for kicks and range plinking... a Mac 11 9mm will run you about $2750-$3250. They have tons of acessories, will draw alot more "lookers" at the range, and full auto is awesome fun. The best part about it that a legal full auto will always appreciate in value. Juat a decade or so ago they were only about $1k.

Just fill out 3 forms, have the chief of police sign them, and wait about 3 months for the forms to be processed. It's that easy. :)
Here's mine:

11. No thanks.
Getting a NFA weapon or getting a CCW License means having yourself put on a list, the first one being your NFA weapon is registered and the government knows who to come after first in the event of a confiscation. No thanks on that; I'll stick with semi-auto. The badassness of owning an automatic weapons isn't worth handing your life over to the ATF.

15. 3 words. Plastic Charging Handle.
Not just no, HELL no.

Bullpups make me a bit uncomfortable with the chamber next to your head and all, and reloads can be awkward, but I can overlook that for some other makes/models. I know at least one guy that had a gang shootout going on in front of his house, and that charging handle snapped off. He was lucky he ended up not needing it, because it's not firing again till it sees a gunsmith.

I don't think it's that much cooler looking that the Beretta CX4, and you could get 4 of them for the price of that gun.

20. A bullpup?
I'm just not too keen on them. Whatever floats your boat. That kind of money would buy a serious AR15. Or a reasonable AR and a good start on an ammo fort.

Very nice, and I've heard a lot of good things about them. Futuristic looking in a Halo sort of way, but very high quality and functional as well.

27. Have you seen the Kriss?
I've had this on order for about 7 months now:

http://www.impactguns.com/store/KCRBS0803801.html

It's the civilian version of the military's new .45cal submachine gun. I guess I just like these unique-looking guns. I know some people have suggested an AR-15, but I'm good to go on those.

29. I've held one...
And it felt really flimsy and plasticky to me. The PS90 felt solid and natural to aim, but this thing didn't, and I recall I had to press the mag release really hard to make it work. I'd take an AUG or AUG clone over it, but overall I don't think bullpups are worth bothering with. I don't know what you already have, but if you want an exotic rifle I'd take a Sig 556 (preferable one of the models with the original Sig 551 sights and handguards) or a Robinson XCR.

But why don't you buy a REAL rifle? :D You can buy a Springfield M1A for closer to $1400. Tell you what, buy a pair, and I'll show you why the the .308 is so much more fun to shoot than those miniature .223 rounds.

36. I ended up getting it.
I went ahead and decided to get it. I took it out to the range and had a very successful test run. I know someone had mentioned the plastic charging handle. That doesn't bother me too much because I didn't buy this rifle for self-defense, it will only get cared for like a baby. If I need a rifle for self-defense, I'll rely on my AKs. But the test run was great; I'm very happy with the purchase.
