Interesting Chicago Gun Poll
Edited on Thu Oct-01-09 10:07 AM by OneTenthofOnePercent
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-gun-case-vote,0,4713881.poll

It appears even Chicagoans don't like their gun bans by nearly a 3 to 1 margin.

1. Online polls are not interesting, accurate, scientific or LOCAL.
Your post is bullshit and you know it.

2. I never claimed it was scientific

accurate or that only locals responded. Even the poll itself says it's not scientific.
Whether or not it is interesting is entirely your own opinion.

Your analysis is bullshit and you know it.

..Is complete bullshit and an incorrect interpretation of an online poll.

Your comment implies this poll reflects the views of Chicagoans. It does not.

7. Context is everything
The OP stated "It appears even Chicagoans don't like..."

Had he left off the "It appears" part, your complaint would carry more weight. I know on-line polls are subject to skewing as does everyone else on DU, but so are some of the more "legitimate" polls picked up by major media outlets, too.

I'm with Robert K. Merton on this one: "Most institutions demand unqualified faith; but the institution of science makes skepticism a virtue."

6. It's being "gunned."
I saw links to that poll at a gun forum I frequent from time to time.

It's an online poll, and while I like to click on things as much as the next guy with an internet connection, I wouldn't put too much stock in the result.

10. Interesting point all by itself.
If Brady posted it on their website, does anyone think they could influence a poll, online or otherwise?

Is it a measure of something or other that there are a lot of gun and shooting sports boards to call on about a poll like this ... and not one single gun control board ANYWHERE to post things on?

NRA, almost 5 million paid members now, not counting GOA, NSSF and all the state clubs. Brady = no membership numbers available, no grass roots to mobilize.

If anything, I'd say that poll is probably grossly underestimating the numbers on a national basis.

11. To be fair, I voted and I'm from Florida...
so it's hard to say form this poll how people who live in Chicago feel.
