You may not have to drive, shoot, or have sex, but it should be by choice, not mandate.

However the rather more interesting part of it is that it is also valid and even, quite remarkably, necessary that you did say it.

The ones with the penises, who also possess guns and cars, each one of them is all the same thing. The one who uses the penis, or uses a gun, or uses a car is not different depending upon what he is using.

Objects in the world do not have attitudes other than that with which they are imbued by their users: same user equals same attitude brought to all objects, no matter their uses, so those "minor similarities" can be less "minor" than you think.

And there are no walls inside the body that perceives and uses a penis, or a gun, or a car. It's all one body; all of its systems are connected in a whole to all of its other systems. Even "self control" has consequences beyond that which is controlled.

I possess a penis, a car and a number of firearms; I'm pretty certain I know the difference between them. I haven't tried to insert my Honda Civic into my wife, for example, tried to hit a target on the 25-yard line with my ejaculate, or attempted to drive to the store in a pump-action shotgun.

Could it be that you regard the the functions of these items rather narrowly?

The biological events that we call various emotions are similar or the same events that have acquired different labels. Those events are evoked by a variety experiences associated with a variety of objects. Though not 100% mutable, all of the associations can be re-programmed under the right circumstances. Though people are used to talking about these things in all or nothing terms, there isn't much of it that exists in discrete "on" or "off" states. There are, rather, potentiations in different levels of organization that can reach threshold by various means.

I don't excrete urine through my guns or my car either. Nor do my car or my guns provide me with pleasure of an orgasm-inducing nature, if that's what you're getting at. To illustrate, the "thin is sexy" ad campaign for Kahr Arms handguns (http://www.kahr.com/) mostly annoys the piss out of me (not least because I like women with a bit more heft to them).

I enjoy cleaning my guns (when they need it), but I don't particularly enjoy cleaning my car, and cleaning my todger is just something I do in the shower without thinking very much about, and I certainly don't stand back to admire the result. Yes, I do occasionally call to mind the phrase on my drill sergeants in basic training used--translated from Dutch, "I want to see that bore gleaming like a wet dog's dick in the moonlight"--but I'm not one who came up with that phrase. Not that dog's penes turn me on either, frankly.

I point my car in a direction I wish to travel.

Why would anyone conflate the two?
