C&R license advice please.
I want to get a C&R license. I don't have the paperwork yet but understand that it can be confusing to fill out. I'll make copies to practice but any advice on what to look for and how to articulate the answers would be helpful.

Any horror stories out there? Any experience with the process?

Thanks!!

1. This is a very good site for C&R information - search it carefully - it's not

always laid out well, but there is a lot of procedure given to get your collector's license. I have the paperwork for mine here somewhere - you just inspired me to get off my ass and finish it.
Thanks. Link:

Put down the C&R paperwork and back away now, while you still have some money in your checking account.

Once you get the license and make copies to sign, send them off to all the C&R wholesalers and get in their files your finances will suffer. <Sarcasm of course>

You'll find you really do need at least 3 or 4 Mosin-Nagants from different arsenals (What do you mean you don't have a Tula?). That K98 and K31 both become "must haves" at the prices they go for.

(After all the children don't need nearly as much milk each week as their mother thinks they should have. That money can be better spent on a Carcano Carbine or an Arisaka, right?)

The biggest risk for me was carrying several copies around at local gun shows. That's how I wound up with three Enfields, including an almost perfect No. 4 MkII and a well used No. 5 Jungle Carbine.

Get it, and have fun collecting. You won't regret it.

4. Getting the C&R FFL is one of the best things I have ever done for my collection
It has paid for itself over and over and over.

It's especially nice being able to legally buy used C&R handguns in other states and bringing them home.

5. Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!
More competition for awesome Mosin Nagants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

;D

IMNSHO, find a local mentor if you can--someone with C&R who might help you walk through the paperwork and any pitfalls. If you know none, but already know any FFL holders they might also be able to refer you to someone who can spot you.

Be safe, be clear, and have fun.

6. C&R paperwork is annoying...

I think so you get it and say WTF??? and put in your filing cabinet for later. That is where mine is. I too need to dig it out and try to figure out how I am supposed to write my addresses of former residence in those 1 inch wide columns.

Edit: intended to reply to OP. PS I love me my MNs!
